IDM Module - REPLACEMENT - International DT444 and 7.3L Ford
From FICMrepair.com
IDM (Injector Driver Module) units initially were used on the older DT444 International engines (94-98) and in the later DT444E Ford Powerstroke engines. (1999-2003)
The DT444 International units and those for the DT444E 7.3L Ford are not interchangable. Both variants are available below in the drop down menus at ordering. When ordering below be sure to select the correct part for your make/model/year.
The IDM modules were mounted in the engine compartments and are susceptible to water damage. Water ingress occurs through an air vent that is an integral part of the IDM case. Once water/moisture gets in there failure is just down the road and typically leads to a "no start" condition.
Another leading failure cause is related to the wiring harness that runs between the IDM module and the injectors. The harness is exposed to very high levels of heat, vibration, grease and oil. This can lead to a breakdown of the wire jacketing and lead to intermittent or permanent electrical short conditions, wither of which can damage the module.
IDM Failure Symptoms:
Rough running engine / Injector misfiring
Loss of Power/Performance
Engine dies, runs okay upon restart
Declining Fuel Efficiency
Error Codes (some or all): PO261, PO273, PO267, PO279, PO282, and PO611
