Ford Stock OEM Alternator (Dual Alternator Truck - Upper Alternator) - 6C3Z-10346-BBRM
From FICMrepair.com
This is the most common alternator that was installed as the upper alternator for the dual alternator version of these trucks. While it is not the only alternator used by Ford, most dual alternator trucks came with this exact alternator.
While it is the same alternator that Ford originally provided for these trucks, we do not recommend running it as simply put, it is just too small for the application.
By design, with the dual alternator setup, at startup, only one of the two alternators are used. The upper alternator does 80 amps at cold idle and the lower alternator does 85 amps at cold idle. In either case, this is far short of the 230 amp glow plug load at startup, which lasts for up to two minutes after start-up. To add insult to injury, you have the 65 amp load just to keep the motor spinning as well as the load of any accessories that are running. As such, we highly recommend migrating to a single alternator setup and choosing one of our high output alternator solutions, such as the Leece Neville 230 amp alternator. However, if you are dead-set on staying with a stock dual alternator setup , stay with the Ford OEM option as while it is still significantly undersized, it is far better quality than the parts house remanufactured units that you'll find at your local auto parts store.
Note:When ordering, please provide your VIN number to confirm that this is the correct OEM alternator for your application.
