7. Monitor your EGTs specifically
Acquisition of a gauge to monitor Exhaust Gas Temperatures - a good choice being the acquisition of the expandable or non-expandable temperature probe that works in conjunction with the Edge Insight CTS2 or CTS.
Keep your EGTs below 1500 degrees Fahrenheit at all times to prevent burning the exhaust valves in the heads and never shut off the truck when the EGTs are above 400 degrees to save your turbocharger. Note that the CTS2 and CTS support a Turbo Timer to allow you to shut the ignition off and allow the motor to stay running until safer and cooler temperatures are reached.
